The hydroelectric project, McLymont Creek, received the Project Excellence Award 2015 by GENERATE, the Clean Energy Association of British Columbia (CEBC). TurbinePROs is proud to be part of the project team.
This is one of three hydroelectric projects that TurbinePROs has provided turnkey field services for the installation of new hydro turbines at AltaGas' run-of-the-river projects in British Columbia, Canada. To follow is a short list of TurbinePROs' services at these projects:
Located in British Columbia, approximately 1,000 kilometers (km) northwest of Vancouver, the McLymont Creek Project is a run-of-river hydroelectric facility with an installed capacity of 66 megawatts (MW), enough to power approximately 20,000 homes.
The project captures energy produced by the natural flow and elevation drop of the creek to produce and deliver clean, renewable power to BC Hydro through the Forrest Kerr 287-kV transmission system to the BC Hydro Northwest Transmission Line (NTL) substation at Bob Quinn.
The project will divert a portion of the flow of McLymont Creek to move the water to a powerhouse where it will generate electricity. The run-of-river nature of this project ensures continual movement of water downstream of the proposed intake, minimizing any potential effects on aquatic resources in the area.
"Under the leadership of Altagas’ Construction Team, over 20 experienced contractors came together with a recovery plan that optimized the project’s critical path such that it could be commissioned ahead of schedule."
